I bit the bullet and sent off for one of these little musical instruments...  When I was a kid, I played trumpet and bugle in school and marchings bands, and as an abberant youth I played drums, but have never tried any woodwinds...  Some call it a " pocket Sax ", as the sound is deeper, more projecting than a clarinet...  It's got a two-octave range, so it should be fun to learn to play...There are many sites on youtube where you can hear examples of the instrument being played....

Don't quote me on it, but I could swear I read, that Portugal specifically noted that they were dropping from member roles of that U.N. Psychotropic Convention....  Cited failed policies, cost , etc....  Sure would like to see this become a trend....

I walked into a Wally-World years ago, and as I approached the entry door;  I noticed a big no smoking sign.  I was just about to light up, so I merely had the unlit cig dangling from my fingers...  Made my way back to the sporting goods section, and was looking at something on an upper shelf...  All of the sudden, some lil pimply faced twerp snatches my cigarrette  out of my hand.  I turned and looked at him with Gawd knows what sort of  expression on my face...  he then, looked at the unlit cig, and stammered "  I uh, they don't let people smoke in here, I thought"...By this time, he was trying to hand me my cig back...  I shook my head and told him  " Now that you have put your hands on my property, you can keep it,  I'm not gonna put that in my mouth"   The guy made a hasty departure back among some other shelving.... I made it a point to never shop there again..... :smoke:3

MMmhhhmmmm.  Sounds like a real experience...  Do remember that in polite company, one does not scratch ones' Scheel in front of others...  Especially not around minor children and gossamer winged sheeples.....

I was just ruminating on society as a whole yesterday...  I also think that 'life as we know it', is on a downhill slope.  Hell, even the talk radio conservatives take the position that our children and later generations will not begin to live even as good an overall existence as we now have (such as it may be)...  It's sort of depressing to me really..  I honestly do not see us as a nation doing much of anything except aimlessly meandering about...  One political hack job after another comes down the pike.  The sheeple bitch and moan a bit, as if they have been assured that, in and of itself, will effect some positive change...In the end... Life goes floating down the abyss...   The idealism and dare I utter;  the hope for a more free and bright future used to be a notion I held dear and expected to see the evidence of.  Was it me??  Was I somehow so naive as to believe such things??  Nowadays, I'm half tempted to just take up the old Yippie adage..  "Revolution just for the Hell of it, just for the fun of it"...  I mean really now, it sure does not appear it would hurt anything...

There is a species of slime mold that visits our yard during certain seasons, and based upon its looks my wife and I affectionately started referring to it as "Cat Yack Fungus." I was therefore amused when, reading one of Paul Stametes' books, I found out the official name of the mold: "Dog Vomit Fungus."

Missed it by that much!

"Dnex" seems to have the most bio-assy info, and from what I can gather;  the compound seems really sort of hit or miss as far as activity is concerned..  Far as I know, there has not been a definitive answer as to why this would be so....
