The Groove / Maui Xaphoon

I bit the bullet and sent off for one of these little musical instruments...  When I was a kid, I played trumpet and bugle in school and marchings bands, and as an abberant youth I played drums, but have never tried any woodwinds...  Some call it a " pocket Sax ", as the sound is deeper, more projecting than a clarinet...  It's got a two-octave range, so it should be fun to learn to play...There are many sites on youtube where you can hear examples of the instrument being played....

The warclouds have broken open, leaking lead as rain.   No one wants to count the cost, no one seems ashamed,,,,,,   Dead bodies lie upon the ground.  Mothers shed their tears.  Now the drone attacks and Abhram tanks they're bringin up the rear......  There was a country here once, but oh where did it go? How did the decline first start down the line?  I'd really like to know......  Twilight fades to darkness in a land that once was free.  Blood tainted waters rose so high, they drowned Miss Liberty......  Now climb aboard that ole bandwagon and sing me those old songs.  Rally 'round the 'ole flagpole for a country up and gone......  So, now stand uo to be counted and pray you've paid fair tax.  There's those that are 'a watchin you, better keep 'em off your back........     The infrastructure it crumbles.  The bridges they fall down.  The factories have shut the shop, and moved on 'outta town........  We used to make our goods right here,  Some say they were the best.  But China sends the small stuuf to us now.  Japan ships in the rest..........  They would not leave her behind, nor give her up for dead.  Broken combat soldier, lies on hospital bed.  They tell her she has lost one foot, and that she has no hands.  She cries at night, the price so high.  For folly in the sands..................  Now climb aboard that old bandwagon.  We will meet at that old flag pole.......Retired folks on fixed income saw their nest egg cracked and runnung on the ground.  So now the eat the cheap cat food,,,  They fry it by the pound................  Pension fraud is rampant.  Home morgage market did collapse..  The Fed says just to wait some time, and we will soon be back in black,,,,,,,,  Now get on board that bandwagon.  We gonna sing some songs and  roll along.  Meet at the old flagpole................Waterboards and hoods at Gitmo.  Dog collars around the neck.   Lost moral compass can't be found to point to east or west...   Some people say that's not the way we need to be.  They say it is a sin.  All gamblers know that sometimes it's the good cheaters that take the win.....................  So now get on up and ride that wagon and fly your dreams up that 'ole flag pole................    Homeless 'Nam Vet standing on the corner.  Trying to get some change.  Most drivers pretend they do not see him, or they glare in fierce disdain............   Now he just smiles and nods his head.  While the drivers speed on past...................  He dumpster dined fine just last evening time, and well,,,,  Today he's got a good buzz  he has a good buzz on, so can all go KISS HIS ASS!!!!!!!!!!

The World / Tin Soldiers-n-Nixon Comin
« on: May 03, 2010, 12:35:30 PM »
Tommorrow marks the 40th anniversary of that terrible day when 4 unarmed students were slaughtered on the campus of Kent State.  I can remember that day in stark clarity..  I'd been up all night with a double dose of purple;  had the t.v. on with the sound turned off, as I grooved on the Stones...  I glanced at the tickertape style newsfeed showing on the screen.  My eyes got even more wild and dilated (assuming such is possible), as the historic words "4 dead in Ohio" scrolled by.  I jerked off the headphones and turned up the volume as I began yelling for the sleeping household to wake up...  The tribe at the house made hasty plans, and two days later, we found ourselves on Kent campus quad..  The collective agony of an AmeriKKKa run amok was overwhelming..  The bloodstain where the girl famously cradled the dead fella in her lap (made front page of Newsweek) was still fouling the sidewalk... Heavy and Headtimes...  Keep those barricades manned dear peeps, if only now, in 'da psychological sense........

The World / New McCain Bill
« on: April 15, 2010, 12:11:59 PM »
Has anyone heard about the new bill submitted by John McCain that attemts to make normal protesting and or public dissent a crime???  Yep, I know how the current Homeland Security provisions could arguably be said to accomplish the same thing, but this bill reads like something outta Hitlers Germany...  The guv rulers only have to asset that someone supports some sort of nebulous anti-guv position, and voila, you will be carted off to the detention camps with no Miranda, no lawyer, no trial...  Get this, the military would be the ones tasked with rounding up and incarcerating 'we 'da peeps'....  There is a link to the entire bill provided at DRC.net.....  Scary stuff imho....

Have any of you seen the new magazine that High Times has begun publishing???  Its done in basically the same format as the original High Times, but this new offering is devoted to ' all things medical marijuana '   I really enjoyed the thing..  There are interviews with med-MJ freedom fighters, dispensary operators, listings and info on every current med MJ state and lots of other good stuff.  Worth taking a look at imho....

The Long House / FREE MJ!!!!
« on: February 08, 2010, 12:50:13 PM »
Ha, bet that got the 'ole second glance eh???  As I was walking across a parking lot recently to go buy some cigs;  I glanced to my right and voila......  There sat a nice 1/4 or so, just looking all forlorn and lonely, out in the middle of this empty seafood joint...  ( They do a really good late night lounge bidness, so go figure my luck )  Yeah well,  I was gonna be a righteous citizen and all, but there wasn't a cop anywhere around / and the cop shop was a mile away, so, uh, sal and other denizens of 'da status qou had to despose of said material forthwith....  Dang!!!  Maybe there is some truth to the Guvmits recent assertion that the THC level in todays herb is  'not your Daddys marijuana!!!  Either that, of found sweets are always sweeter :smoke:3 ....  Guess there goes my new cottage industry urine sales bidnezz........

The Long House / Dr. Gonzo vs Barnes & Noble
« on: February 01, 2010, 11:07:23 AM »
Well, here's one 'fer the annals..  Lately 'ole Sal has been sort of depressed, or at least not as mentally chipper as he would like...  Call it seasonal  affective disorder, normal clinical depression, cognizant awareness of the state of the world in general, whatever.   Then, to top things off, I've been having a hard time lately getting acess to the net and this fine abode here..  A couple of times last week, I tried to visit here and only got that insipid 'blonde babe'.  I tell 'ya peeps, it was putting me in a tizzy.  I didn't know if the tribe had decided to go somewhere else in cyberspace and I had missed discussion on such an issue..  I wondered; If that were the case, where could 'ya be...  So,  senor was a bit stressed....  Truth be told, you peeps are near and dear to my heart, and all that mushy kind of stuff..  Anyway, whilst flailing around in a fog, I decided to seek out the bookstore to healp with maintaining some sort of psychological equilibrium...  I happened to pick up an old reprint of Hunter S. Thompsons' Gonzo Papers....  Yep, if'n any of you have read his stuff, you know he's full of vitriol, vinegar and rollicking good times....  So there I am, sitting in a chair and 'ole Doc Gonzo had me bustin' out laughing time and again..  Hell, I was grinning, wiping tears away, slapping my knee, and nodding in the affirmative like a certifiable loon....  Guess I annoyed some of the folks 'cuz I was having such a good time;  because the management asked me to please vacate the store as I was not conduting myself with proper decorum    -----     Guess there goes my rather tenous grip on a last ditch effort to maintain 'normallcy'....  Glad to see the site back...  Hell, if'n you guys weren't here, who knows what state my fragile concioussness would  deteriorate into........   :smoke:3 ----------

The Long House / Urine 'Tha Money
« on: January 15, 2010, 11:06:21 AM »
Ha, 2 days ago,as I was walking across my favorite grocery store parking lot, I was stopped by a casual acquaintance.  He approached me and with his head lowered, talking in sotto-voice; he began asking if I could "piss clean"..   I answered in the affirmative and asked him why he cared...  He then stated that he had to do a tox screening for his parole people later that same day....  He asked me what I would charge for my golden elixer...  At first, I popped off automatically with " gimme a 6-pack and a pack of smokes"...  He nodded that that would be OK, and asked me to meet him at a local park where he'd have a bottle for me to fill, as well as my beer and cigs.  I caught up with him at the park later and hooked him up...  I told him to forget paying me as I thought the whole deal was pretty funny  --------- Guess I might be starting to become the big honcho of a new cottage industry eh

The Long House / Just Chillin
« on: January 11, 2010, 10:58:15 AM »
Ha!!!   A friend of mine offered me a glance at the paper this morning (which I declined)  as this communitys paper is pathetic...  He smirked and said "look on the front page"  I grabbed the rag and Lo and behold; another aticle on the 'plight' of the homeless...  Yeah, yeah, blah, blah...  They do this every year around the holidays and cold season...   But,,,,  this was really funny... Seems the local shelter facility is way overcrowded, has 50-75 peeps a night sleepin outside on concrete with thin mats, a sleeping bag...So, the powers that be asked the local rehab place if they could utilize their unused 50 or so beds....  Seems the detox facility won't allow homeless folks to be there because they are city chartered to provide one security staffer for every 25 residents and they don't have the monies to provide security...  So this one homeless advocate decides to rent a big party tent, set it up on the detox grounds and accomodate the 50 or so overflow homeless from the local shelter....  He then decides to show his solidarity toward the homies by sleeping out in the tent with them....  now, hears what cracked me up...  The guy checked himself into the hospital the next morning and asked to be treated for hyperthermia....   Now, I guess its sorrowful that the guy had hyperthemia and all, but yours truly is sleepin under the foundation of an abandoned house with a comforter I drug out of a dumpster and I manage to stay reasonably comfortable.....Guess 'comfort' is a relative concept eh
