The World / Re: Thoughts on President-elect Barack Obama
« on: November 07, 2008, 12:59:39 AM »
Hi everyone!
I was all organised for the election results to roll in. I knew Barak should win but still wasn't certain, so it was very exciting. I cleared my slate for the afternoon and poured a G&T with a wedge of lime (the first from my tree). Rolled a doobie and watched the numbers grow once the early GOP strongholds had shown their inevitable colours.
When McCain conceded it was wonderful; knowing that the American people had spoken so clearly.
The founding fathers will be smiling down on you.

We all know that tough economic times are ahead and I agree with cenny that it will require damn hard work. The inspiration for that can now be drawn from each other in America, a united effort to turn things around.
It's a time for questioning the status quo - and that *has* to be good. The American people were asked to choose and they chose wisely. It's really important to me coz our elections are tomorrow and the NZ people are likely to throw out our government of the last 9 years - a PM respected throughout the world for her intelligence and integrity- and replace them with the right wing, led by a financier with no experience.
I'm so happy that he wont have the GOP to cuddle up with.
For now ... PLANT A GARDEN!

Just popping in to say 'HIGH'. I miss this place although I am often idling in chat (and sometimes even *chatting*). Hope to actually post here sometime before next year.

I think he adds a lot of good info about neurochemical engineering, which is his thing, but I don't like our place getting nasty. Fiend has been around for a very long time and I would like to see him have chances to participate but not at any cost.  It is a balancing act and it is up to the op on duty to make the call. I'd let him back in, on notice.

The Long House / INTRODUCING RALPH METZNER, guest chatter on Saturday
« on: January 04, 2008, 01:00:18 AM »
We are privileged to welcome Dr Ralph Metzner to Spiritplants.  Click here for chat details:
http://www.spiritplants.org/phpbb/viewt ... 9329#19329

A contemporary of Tim Leary and Richard Alpert, with whom he wrote ‘The Psychedelic Experience’ in 1963, Dr Metzner is a ‘spiritplants’ elder, even to those of us here who are old heads from the 60’s.
His Green Earth Foundation ( www.greenearthfound.org ) seeks to pass on the vital information for a harmonious existence and his most recent project is a series of fascinating workshops: the Alchemical Divination Training Program:
www.metzneralchemicaldivination.org
Working with students at the California Institute of Integral studies, he lectures on ‘…the meeting of Eastern and Western spiritual and psychological traditions…’

If anyone has a question for Dr Metzner would you please pm your question to either Kemp, Obodaour or Glandmaster.
The sooner we receive your question, the more likely you are to be on the list for Saturday’s chat.

The format for the chat with Dr Metzner is different to the previous chat in that the ops will accept questions in advance and exercise discretion as to which questions will take priority. Certainly getting in early will increase your chances of having your question answered.

Pm your questions anytime to Kemp, Glandmaster, Obodaour or Cassie.

Also a 'must see'. I watched 'The Money Masters' which is on the same theme and I believe the banking families are going to be so exposed that they will start giving back for fear of being universally hated.

Oh yes! that movie informed me of a lot of stuff I wish I'd known sooner. The first part, about religion, can be left out entirely but it has some good points to make if one is not familiar with that critique of Christianity.

How exciting! Thanks Kemp.

I agree with one question each (altho sometimes a 2-part question is inevitable) and then we can ask a second if there is time once everyone has had a turn.

Oh. I just logged in on a friend's computer and this was the first thing I read. People (6 of us and 17 for xmas ) and  my house here have kept me so busy.
I also wish you all the best in this next chapter of your life, Winder. I hope you might consider popping back in now and then; the place will be poorer for your absence.
I have recently had a very strange experience where a place I dreamed about many years ago was revealed to me as a real place in America, via some small snippet on late night tv. It has renewed and refreshed my sense of the numinous. Also recently I have come to understand the meaning of the Mayan calendar and found, through this, a resonance with what is happening around us.
I hope that you also will find something(s) on your path to revive your spirits.

Totally agree ... I've been a greenie since I left the brownies. Still though, that video convinced me that global warming is majorly out of our control due to the current sun-spot cycle.
