* Featured New Rock Album: Beck, *Colors* (2017) . . . The master chameleon returns with his first album in 3 years, & it's a dandy, bouncy & vibrant . . . does not escape darkness or yearn at points, but it's a heavy dose of fun all the way . . . not been so much so in awhile . . . inspired delight . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: U2, *War* (1983) . . . Third album by this Irish rock band really hits it out of the park, end to end . . . angry songs, songs of desire, rocking madly good . . . musically transcendent . . . the hits were "Sunday Bloody Sunday" & "New Year's Day" . . . but it has the feel of a full-on suite . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Saw Doctors, *The Further Adventures* (2010) . . . I stumbled into this Irish band because of their association with The Waterboys, one of my favorite Irish folk-rock bands . . . their music rings & cries, soulful & sweet & wonderful . . . a delightful find . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album Redux: Harry Chapin, *Sniper & Other Love Songs* (1972) . . . Tis November & my thoughts turn to long ago days, long long ago, when scratchy Harry Chapin albums played on my portable phonograph . . . & his words & music gave me comfort like little else in my sad youth . . . he understood pain, loneliness, yet still sang funny songs as well . . . this LP is one of my favorite of his bunch . . . happy to share again, first time since 4/10/2005 show . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 14 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Bags End News* & *Labyrinthine* . . . & this week's featured artists are some of those who performed fine live tributes to Mr. Tom Petty, after his death in early October . . . some weeks are just trod on through, step after step, & then arrival to a fresh one . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Blitzen Trapper, *Wild and Reckless* (2017) . . . This LP derives from a musical these Portland rockers created & produced in 2017, what *Paste* magazine described as a "rock opera about love, science fiction and the golden era of Portland" . . . knowing that, it's possible for the listener to tease out a story, but I don't think it matters so much, as it's a great group of trippy country-rock songs, & a dandy record emerges from all these details. . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Suzanne Vega, *99.9F°* (1992) . . . A great record by this New York folk-rocker . . . a full on band sound, eclectic, dark, light, fun . . . I've always thought Vega to be the one legitimate heir in lyricism & tone to Paul Simon . . . same deep, cool, feeling-full-ness . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 14 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Bags End News* & *Labyrinthine* . . . & this week's featured artist is Stevie Nicks & some classic songs from her solo work . . . thankfulness begins with what is closest to my heart, lover, pen, home, & swirls out to include each & everyone one of you . . . thankee, thankee, thankee . . .
