Trump's Election: It's Time to Resist
« on: November 14, 2016, 01:51:57 PM »
Hello everyone,

It's weird to be thinking about the politics of the land, riding right now on a nighttime Greyhound bus speeding from New York City to Boston. To know that because of the past week's events, the next four years at least--beginning roughly 10 weeks from now---will likely be some rough, loud, possibly violent times for many of us.

I voted for Hillary Clinton. I'd concluded she'd make a good President, & voted for her with a clear conscience. She doesn't radiate her passions & convictions like Obama does, but she would have done some good things.Trump won the election, fair & square, with a minority of votes to Clinton's.

People are in the streets, angry, scared, defiant. KD & I marched with them in the NYC demonstrations this weekend. My favorite sign: "Pussy Grabs Back!"

It feels like a time to grieve, to re-assess, but there's no such time to spend. Senator Elizabeth Warren say now is the time to get involved, & stay in touch.

Here's her full interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_RMSHGPt6Y

Trump is a nasty bit of work. Likes to blame & threaten those he thinks he can intimidate. Brings out the worst in supporters & foes alike.

It's time to resist. Now & hereon. If you aren't worried for yourself, then worry for your friends, your neighbors. Trump's promises & threats are on the table. He collected votes by what he will try to do to the most vulnerable of us. People of color. Women. LGBTQ. The elderly. Immigrants. The list goes on.

It's time to resist. Now & hereon. It will be hard. Suck sometimes. But none of us are alone. Get involved. Stay in touch.

It's time to resist. Now & hereon. I'm in, all in. I hope each of you is too. Get involved, stay in touch!

Peace,
Raymond

You saw my posts from yesterday. We marched and we took a freeway briefly. The rally and march was an amazing experience. We are not alone!!! The organizers and the Sacramento police did an amazing job of letting the unpermitted march and protest unfold peacefully. The police were actually clearing the way for us. When we went up on the freeway one driver was acting like he was gonna plow his way through the crowd. His car was immediatly surrounded. One of the awesome march organizers talked to the driver for a minute then said "We have to let this guy through" and cleared a path for him. Cops showed up and negotiated with the organizers and then we left peacefully.

It was a powerful event. It had the same feeling of history unfolding that I felt at events in the 60s. King Donald is waking up a sleeping giant. I for one will be an activist till I die. Power to the people!
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

Same feeling in NYC, Joe. Even with the thousands who were surrounding Trump Palace. The cops don't seem to be against what is going on. Out in Portland, the violence happened because of some anarchists who crashed the event. The police recognized the difference. It may not stay like this, but for now the police are not against these peaceful demonstrations. Lot different than Occupy days.

Glad to hear you guys are doing your part. Our family went to the March for Science in D.C. It was nice hearing so many people speaking out against Trump. It is still kind of hard to believe these two are still in power.
