As far as I was concerned you could still buy something quite similar as a smokable medicine.

There's a lot of fear among the members here about Datura and Brugmansia. That, to me, doesn't mean anything. I have been growing nightshade species as a collection for years. Datura is dangerous, but you would have to be either bold or stupid to die from it. Brugmansia is considered safer, though I'm not sure why. I think it has a different concentration of alkaloids in it.

You can always do the alcohol extraction, or make a smoking blend with datura. Just shade dry the leaves, make sure to have a lot, and grind them up. Then you have a smoking material that is homogeneous in potency.

Don't eat, especially seeds. Tea can be dangerous too. It all depends how much you put in. Though, I would say get used to the potency of the dried and chopped leaf before hand.

I do not condone any use of this plant. Just don't get caught up because teenagers are getting themselves killed. Wait until you have significant entheogenic experience.

I've had toe (a type of datura) in ayahuasca ceremonies in Peru, but it's always been in very safe and controlled circumstances. This is definitely not a plant to play with.

I know toé is also called floripondio or floripón, and it's quite a dangerous bardo you get into, besides, the killer dose and the active dose are very near, and as you can never know how much escopolamine is in each flower you can over the top with a trip that is more often than not described as a baaaaaad trip, doesn't taste nice and leaves you pretty blinded for some days, being this the least potent of all, i would want to keep away of stronger solanaceas as well..
i know of a guy who was convinced that the train was made of chewing gum as it sped towards him, and one who was as sure that the knife in his kitchen was a pen that he used to write in his hand, but nothing serious happened to the second one.

What can be gained from Datura not available by other means?
And is the risk worth it?

I tried a tea made from a creamy orange brugmansia flower once, about 12 years ago . . . I was a kid and didn't have any idea how bad of an idea it was. A friend and I brewed up a tea with two large flowers. I drank a gulp, and my friend did as well. He commented that he was getting immediately high, and that it was cool. I relaized something was off, adn went to the bathroom to make myself puke. I walked about 10 feet, and fell over. I woke up strapped to a table and catheterized.

Sounds like fun, eh?

As far as the trip, it was like a wave of fear, and thena true hallucination, like I was seeing an octupus fluying above me. Then you realize that you are staring at your foot, adn there is no octupus. You panic bc you have TOTALLY lost control, and you feel horrible, and then you are in it again, completely lost in a 3 minute wave of madness. No spiritual aspects at all for me, no religious symbolism or meaning inherent in the experiance. It was just like chancing death to sleep while awake, and then still be tired.

Mmmm sounds as tho there are braver or maybe more foolish folk than me on here. Ive never tried it but have grown plenty, its an easy plant to grow but does need frost free over wintering to make it get huge.
One interesting fact is that in the UK during the plant collecting boom in victorian days women used to literally dip the flowers in there cup of tea to send them into a stupor. Every part of Datura is toxic even the pollen.

Howdy,
This is my first post lol.

I actually did datura a good few years back.
It was something....
I boiled 2 whole pods of seeds, that is about maybe 1000 - 1500 seeds total.
The resulting liquid was very bitter, i didnt drink all, but the dose i took was insanely strong, maybe even past overdose level.
I lay down and waited for the high, nothing really came, I got the urge to urinate so i got up to go the the bathroom, (nothing came there was just the urge to urinate) I couldnt walk properly I stumbled my way there knocking against the walls. This commotion woke up my parents, so my mum came to see what was up, I tired to tell her hey I just woke up sleepy and woozy and stumbled but I promptly discovered I could not talk. my tongue was heavy heavy and I slurred badly.
From here is where the trip went insane, I weaved in and out of hardcore delirium, Had deep conversations with some of my plants, My parents carried me to the hospital because they were frightened (and rightly so) The doctors there had no idea what was going on and assumed I had a mental breakdown.
We came back home and they supervised me for the night, Throughout the night I kept hearing voices calling from outside of my room, Saw odd things floating by but I slept through most of it.
By morning I was sort of okay, well stoned out of my mind but no or very little delirium.
We went out for lunch and while eating the food, I half drifted into a delirious state and could see the people who were preparing the food, I drifted back to normality and a few mins after, lo and behold one of the delirium induced food preparer girls walks out of the kitchen.
This high lasted for about a month. (this high had absolutely no pleasure to it, it was a feeling of not being there, like your consciousness was scattered in far away places) It was very hard to pretend to be normal, but i think I adapted well enough, even had some major presentations at work to do in this state.

I didnt have any internet access at the time, so i couldnt really do any research, most I heard were vague rumours about the plant before, Strangely its only after you hear the horror stories and about all the people who went insane from using it.

I am thankful for the experience though, I think I have gained a lot from it.
I can now easily adapt to fast changing stressful situations, my mind is more open and creative as it seems I not really thinking in a confined scope.
I dont have a faer to face things head on anymore.
It took me about 2 years to get back close to normal. The high subsided in about a month but there were subtle things and always some slight delirium reamaining for the remaining 2 years.
To have your reality challenged so drastically is an experience I am glad for because I learnt from it and am pretty sane now.
But I wont do it again.
I have the plants growing in my yard still, my mum uses the flowers for prayer offerings and stuff (no consumption)
