Salvia does fine under florescent light. I'm guessing 250 watts, if kept a couple of feet from the plants would allow you to grow plenty of salvia.

Good luck and keep us posted, eh?

sally does well under HPS
just keep the light far enough away

that chart shows the optimal range for cannabis, but i'd say it seems that 1000-2000foot candles is what you are looking for..
for a 250W, I'd say you want to be around 2.5ft away, maybe start off around 3 just to see, better to be a bit etiolated than crispy
I have some around a 600W and they do the best at around 4ish feet from the bulb or more but 6ft seems to be pushing it, at about 2-3ft they start to suffer from too much light, first with the thickening of the leaves and they can become very leathery and then they have deformed growth

this is nice growth though

but otherwise flouros work just great too, esp tubes, you can keep tuebs very close the the plants if they arent too hot, cfls have to be farther away, but both work very well, 2 4ft flouros bulbs will support plants under it if they are a few inches away, the whole length of the light if they dont start to get too bushy and away from the light tubes might be cheaper but a 250W HPS will be able to support a good amt of plants

Floros are cheap and they work. HPS or MH will work fine and have higher efficiency. You get more light out of a hps or mh per watt. Salvia does not need a high level of light such as cannabis may need. Humidity, watering and ferts are very important factors. Do some reading about what works for other people.
