Hi All, this is post numero 2.

I have a question about cuttings... While not a n00b at Sally D, I am / would be a noob at trying to propegate gfrom /obtain cuttings.

My question is, do I leave the cuttings in water for a bit before I plant them,

and lastly, Does anyone know where I can get cuttings? Links? ANyone wanna PM me? I live in So cali so I think the climate zone should be optimal to grow her.

Some people like to start them in soil, some in water.

I've always started them in water: put 'em in a glass, set them in a windowsill, and leave them there until they have a good set of roots. Once they have roots, plant them in a perlite/potting soil mixture and keep them moist until they establish themselves.

Not too difficult, really.

....make sure you change the water once a week, with the cuttings. safest planting mix is to avoic commercial soils with perlite or vermiculite, as it encourages rot due to layering and habit of perlite to "float" up through soil profile. Better to use small orchid bark and/ small lava....and only water when bottom of pot starts to get dry. rot kills more salvia than all other problems combined..IMO http://www.greenstranger.com/salviapage_revised.html?
