This post returns to a subject brought up sometime back in this forum. In the post Anyone get mood elevation after salvia use? the poster asked about using less than breakthrough dosages to maintain the euphoric well being that Sally can impart on the user. This is not to be confused with the afterglow that follows a journey.

So how many of you out there use this technique? What is your method?

The journeys are fun, but they are unnerving for me so far and getting the nerve up to go back has proven to ba an obstacle, and I'm only smoking homegrown!! Only me and my bro have used this particular homegrown, and its all we know and it knocks both of us way out of ourselves, we don't even consider bumping up to any of the X-es. But I digress.

Aside from going places and experiencing things that are impossible to describe and the groovy afterglow, the next best thing about Sally is how great you feel for the next few days. At first I chalked it up to relief, the relief the ego feels at coming back, or un-disolving. Or it was the after effects of the terror/awe that is experienced while there.

So let me know if anyone else has experience using low dosages for mood maintenance. I think I will start a regimen of 'Little Tastes' and let you all know what I get out of it.

Luego,
HijoDeHojas

I have found that low to moderate (much less than "breakthrough" dosing) has been extremely beneficial in obtaining relief from chronic depression. A half joint of plain leaf and I am good to go for quite a while.. Sometimes for weeks at a time.. This is from someone that used to be on a high dose regimen of Zoloft.. Have not taken any anti-depressants in years... Salvia has been a wonderful ally...

I've seen you say this many times, so I decided to try it myself recently. St. John's Wort doesn't always do the trick.

I believe you're on to something there. I don't feel "mood elevation", but it does seem to relieve the worst of depression more effectively than St. John's Wort. Although, honestly, in both cases I sometimes feel a little empty, like not being as depressed is missing something integral to myself.

Actually it does make me a lot happier at times, when I was extremely stressed I decided I would see if lady Salvia could help so I smoked a little, not a lot. It brought my mind to a state of playful joy and I had the imagination of a little kid again. After it wore off I was still in a great mood, I can't say it works this way every time. I was taking a risk I think, I'm thinking it could have possibly made my mood worse depending on many factors but not sure.

Hi from the noob

Yes, I microdose continually and have been for nearly two weeks since our introduction. My main purpose was to learn if she would help with my chewing tobacco addiction of 34 years. So far that is going well. I believe she acts as a buffer in the brain to block those urges of "having" to have something that's not particularly good for us.

I powdered a quantity of leaf in the blender to put into my usual snuff container and added a slice of carrot overnight to give it some moisture. Just a pinch like getting a dip of snuff is all it takes, whenever one feels the urge to chew tobacco.

As a welcome side effect I did not expect, my mood is elevated and I'm a much happier person and much better to get along with and outgoing in everyday affairs. I'm more relaxed. Just an overall feeling of well being.

A couple of evenings I have taken big chews with some fairly astounding visual effects but moreso spiritual and having to deal with personal issues so I won't go into that. Someone on another forum told me of the reverse tolerance effect and I do believe that to be the case with chewing small amounts over time from my recent experiences.

I have other entheogenic friends in my past but that was more of abuse and not of meaning or purpose and it was about 15 or so years ago. I've just started back on the entheogen path, this time toward enlightenment. Salvia is a wonderful guide.

An old thread...

I have not found consistent mood elevation with Salvia use (although I have experienced it sporadically). The only entheogenic preparation I have found which has consistently elevating qualities is vilca, which is interesting because none of the public literature attributes these qualities to any of the components.

A forum with posts going back to 2007 on the first topic page needs all the help it can get dontcha think?

Most of the Salvia experiences I see around here have to do with smoking. I doubt anybody will see lasting mood changes for the positive via the bridge of smoke but again, I'm not a smoker so have nothing in that manner to compare personally, just looks like a lot of fear and apprenhension plague most smokers from what I read and alot of Salvia being used when a little bit over time might be better with a different approach.

Someone else I know tinctures micro-doses daily with like results to mine. Is loving life and stays right on the edge of the other side all day long.
