I've just got my hands on a couple of three year old peyotes, and don't plan to take them for a while, but i want to know from someone who knows more on the subject than me stuff like, how old they have to be to be used, or how much should they weight, maybe some advice on growing them best, and please how you took them, because i don't know if eating, making a mescal tea or what is the best way

ps: how should i treat a san pedro cutting so it doesn't rot and i can plant it again and reproduce it?

Hi Adidas.

Welcome to the forum. Peyote buttons can be eaten fresh or dried, or a tea can be made. When harvesting buttons you can harvest them in such a way that the root does not die, and infact will create more buttons (pups). When you cut a button off, leave a few mm of green flesh on top of the root, this will allow for regrowth. The harvested buttons can then be used as intended as a medicine/entheogen or you can let the cut callous over and then replant them (therefore doubling your collection).

2 x 3 year old buttons does not sound like quite enough to really feel the medicine strong, you may want to consider getting more first, butthere again there is no harm is introducing oneself with Peyote on a small small scale first.

adidas:

You had better be in a country where eating peyote is legal if'n you want our assistance on consuming something that's illegal in the U$.

Good advice from Bushpig on the peyote. If you dug them up and they still have the roots, consider planting them and letting them grow. They don't like a lot of direct sun or frequent water but can be grown in the home.

As to the san pedro, that's where you might want to look for your medicine. Let your cutting callous over so that the cut end is dry. Then put it in dry soil until roots grow out. Keep it in low light during this time. It will put out pups and grow like a regular plant. Pedros can take more water after they are rooted and gradually take more sun.

It is legal in many places. We don't encourage illegality but we are not agents for the police either. Chill

100% legal man, don't worry, plus, we are on the way to all penalties be removed for "drug offenses", which means drugs will no longer be offenses, for example, it's now legal to have up to 2 pot plants, and soon it's expected to grow from there, so :D:D:D:D:D

And don't want to take any peyote yet, anyway, i'm too young for that kind of mindblowingflash, but just feel lke having it growing already so i can reproduce it and such. As to peyote, should i put it out on the sun for the callous to form or in the shade, wrapped in newspaper, or something?
Sorry if i'm asking too much, but i found lot's of useful data in here so i figure you may aswell know this stuff

thanks lots

ps: argentina siempre fue tierra de nadie, un poco más, un poco menos, capaz que se vuelve tierra de todos

Yes, in many countries it's totally legal, places such as Canada, England, and Australia, just off the top of my head. I believe Israel also and a number of others.

Do not put your peyote in the sun! Not to callous or after it's started growing. Put it in dry soil until the roots form. When it resists when you gently rock it, it's rooted. Water no more than once a month. Babies need moisture but after they get 1/4" or so they need less and less. Peyote likes shade, deep shade while rooting and a little more light afterwards. The only difference with the san pedro is they can adapt to full sun after rooting. But don't rush them.

Que bueno que Argentina permite esas cosas. Me gustaria que fuera asi en los estados unidos.

The Huichol simply chewed the fresh or dried buttons.
Maybe a tea.

But any sort of acid/base/solvent extraction tek is certain to lose a portion of the other alkaloids and alter the experience so that it is not a peyote experience, but is not a mescaline experience, so then why bother, as you won't know what you have or had.

Yes make sure that San Pedro thoroughly dries before placing in dry soil, wait until after root buds form, until rootlets form, then lightly water. After roots are all formed, water well then let dry completely. Also raise up cactus level to nearly soil level to prevent rot after a root system is established (at least that's what I do ) =)

Recently dried Peyote buttons can contain up to 8% total alkaloids of which about 30% is mescaline.

Hey teotz,

I've emailed you the paper to have a look through. I'm not sure if it is freely available on the net.

cheers
