i have ponds as deep as a huge john deere
i navigate strange scapes
mud means nothing
water has its way
oasis of land calls out
with wisps of tired straw
scraggly field pulls me out from certain swamp

natural in it's swampiness
in southern va. they call
it the dismal swamp
it is anything but
a place where yoda can make
his final getaway and the
dragonflies can hover all the
live long day....my puter time's up!

you got 30 seconds left
jammin the library metronome
tick, fucking tock
guy behind me waits with his card
he wants his 30 minutes
i feel him trying not to rush
he's eyeing my keyboard, wondering if i washed my hands
he's thinking of e-mails and forums
i try not to think about him
i got 12 seconds left
my time's mine, 10 more
how fast can i type and press
submit

freedom feels so fine
after confinement
feeling the squeeze
unsqueeze triples comfort
southern, that is
cushioned,
flask filled glass
water or ice
tea with spice

pearl twirled on my turntable
something happening there
grooving in the slightly damp basement
hoping the pizza would arrive
teenage party
summertime respite
janis raising us with big brother
guiding our malleable minds

rumours reached me first
'spin the bottle'
knowing glances
petrified of what reality would show
i entered teenagehood
wide-eyed wondering
tales of strip poker
closet mysteries
all to be revealed
at the age of 13
if you remember
you weren't there -
woodstock cover

i was in menlo park california
walking around leland stanford jr. university
with a golf bag slung over my wired shoulder
those golden hills beneath la honda
where the merry pranksters used to play

read my pranksters
rode my further
dreamed of back then
all on the net
ventured through new york
with a prankster point of view
breathed and channelled pranksterness
pulled real life characters into prankster roles
casting call israeli style, pranksters to outrank pranks
new ones to out prank the sters
